my thoughts on the american presidential elections

... that one fight i would have killed to see would have been obama/hilary v. mccain/condi. man! that would have been like stephen hawking's idea of a girl sleepover pillow fight. talk about an intellectual orgasm. (on a feminist note, why do we get to call obama and mccain by their last names, yet the women get nicknames? huh.)

... right now that i know nothing about sarah palin, i think... mccain, poor choice. you pick a veep based on how well they work with you, if they can handle being a president when you can't, and how many votes they can bring you since you don't actually get to vote for a vp. so you picked a woman, maybe to one-up the democrats and obama who did not pick hilary. fine. so you picked a, what, 44 year old woman? you're 77 plus (i think), definitely if you croaked (and i hope you don't, coz i do like you), she'll still be like. so she's mega anti-abortion. well good for her! but abortion and choice aren't black and white. a girl gets raped by her father, does she want to keep her child who is her sister? hell, no, i don't think i'd want a reminder of the abuse i got. but that's more an argument that republicans and democrats might never agree on. going back to my opinion. strategic planning... you picked ALASKA? i don't know nuts about alaska. of course, i'm not american, i know less about alaska than most americans, but maybe pick a state that was a large primary like texas. california's good. new york might be the most advanced city in the u.s. but alaska. really, i know nothing about that. at least biden can get the new england states.

... let's point out the fact that though palin's kid might be in the military, so is biden's. but the democrats don't point that out. cynically, maybe because it looks like his son supports the war in iraq. practically, maybe it's because you really shouldn't trot your kids out to win your elections for you. like obama said, kids are off-limits.

... palin's daughter is pregnant and 17. and unmarried. obviously, being anti-abortion, she's keeping the baby. now, i don't want to sound cynical, but i really hope her kid loves the father of her baby. because if they were forced into the marriage for the sake of family solidarity in the face of the elections, that's going to be a sucky four years for her. now, see if the media didn't have to put that piece of information out, i wouldn't have had to comment on it.

... these are the things i hope they pay attention to, during their campaigns: the war (maybe not so much), immigration, health care, abortion (really! i would totally follow that), the recession (jesus. everything is worse because of that. bush helllo!!!!! it's not just a bad day, it's a recession), and gas prices. seriously! i beg of you, figure out something for gas.

... i'm way too interested in the u.s. elections than in the philippines. it's sad, i know and i will rectify that in time for 2010. but i definitely think the u.s. affects every country in the world. obama sounds good, maybe too good that i forget he has less experience. but biden's got to have most of his life in the senate or at least in politics. it balances. i like him. i'm really tired of republicans right now. no offense. it's just that i think they ignore a lot of issues that shouldn't be ignored.
